In a recent court ruling on a fatal shooting incident of February 2024 in Cleveland, USA, a judge in Ohio court excluded the facial recognition evidence. After failing to secure leads, the investigators had turned to surveillance footage taken days after the crime. An AI facial recognition software was used to identify a suspect.

On March 2024, the Indian government allocated about 10000 crore rupees towards the India AI mission. The paltry $1.25 billion budget got a lukewarm response at a time when Big Techs were spending multi-billion dollars each quarter buying the coveted AI chips. The AI race had turned into a spending spree where government spending of $1.25 billion seemed inadequate.

In a recent keynote speech at the Cisco AI summit in California, Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon pointed out that AI can draft an IPO prospectus. The Financial Times reported Solomon saying AI can accurately compile 95 per cent of such document. Comparing with the conventional method of preparing an initial registration prospectus or S-1, he noted that AI could do within minutes what a six-person team took two weeks to prepare.

In February 2025, the Indian government indicated that it’s planning to use Artificial intelligence (AI) to identify mule accounts where cyber fraudsters park the swindled funds. It was also informed that 399 banks and financial intermediaries have come on board and shared over six lakh suspicious data points, more than 19 lakh mule accounts have been caught, and suspicious transactions worth Rs. 2,038 crore have been prevented.
